About Leah Justyce | Australian Contemporary Artist

Leah Justyce is an Australian contemporary artist whose work explores the intersection of emotion, memory and environment — creating large-scale artworks designed to live within and transform interior spaces.

With over 25 years of artistic practice and a formal Fine Art education, Leah has developed a distinctive visual language defined by expressive mark-making, bold yet refined palettes and an intuitive approach to composition. Her work moves fluidly between figurative, abstract and symbolic forms, unified by a focus on feeling rather than perfection.

Her artworks have been collected worldwide and featured in internationally recognised publications including The World of Interiors, British Vogue and House & Garden UK.

An Art Practice Built on Instinct and Evolution

Leah’s journey as an artist has never followed a single path. Instead, it has evolved through exploration — from portraiture and symbolic works to large-scale abstract compositions and emotionally driven series.

At the core of her practice is instinct. Each piece begins not with a rigid plan, but with a response — to a feeling, a memory, a space or a moment. This approach allows her work to remain raw, expressive and deeply connected to the human experience.

Visible brushstrokes, layered textures and drips of paint are not imperfections, but intentional elements that capture movement, immediacy and authenticity. They reflect the belief that art should feel alive — not manufactured.

Art Designed for Interiors

Today, Leah’s work is increasingly created with interiors in mind — not as decoration, but as a central element within a space.

Her large-scale artworks are designed to anchor a room, influence atmosphere and create emotional impact. Each piece considers colour, scale and composition in relation to how it will live within an environment, making her work highly sought after by interior designers and collectors alike.

This approach reflects a shift from creating art to be placed within a space, to creating art for a space.

A Commitment to Sustainable Practice

Since 2020, Leah has incorporated sustainability into her practice through a textile recycling initiative. Donated fabrics from across Victoria are repurposed and stretched into canvases, giving new life to materials that would otherwise contribute to landfill.

This process not only reduces waste, but also adds a deeper layer of meaning to each work — embedding history, texture and unseen narratives into the foundation of the artwork itself.

Her approach reflects a broader philosophy: that art can be both beautiful and responsible, without compromise.

The Work Today

Leah Justyce’s work continues to evolve, guided by a clear intention — to create art that resonates on both a visual and emotional level.

Her collections explore themes of identity, connection, memory and place, inviting viewers to engage with the quieter, often unseen aspects of their own experience.

Through her work, Leah offers more than an image. She creates pieces that hold presence — artworks that live within a space, and within the people who experience them.

Leah Justyce’s work is presented through a series of curated exhibitions, each exploring moments, emotions and narratives that define her practice.
